Last week, we were delighted to watch Magento unveil some exciting new capabilities at Magento Live Europe 2019 that are targeted at SMB and Mid Market B2B merchants.

As we mentioned briefly in our Top Takeaways from Magento Live 2019 blog last week, many had been speculating that Adobe’s announcements would focus on “large enterprise” market needs. We’re glad to see that isn’t going to be the case, as stated clearly by Magento,

“We’re committed to bringing Adobe’s enterprise-grade commerce capabilities to our SMB and mid-market customers to help them grow their business.”

Outside of the B2B Order Approval module, here are some of the other features Magento announced that we’re looking forward to making use of with our clients in the near future.

AI (Adobe Sensei) Powered Product Recommendations

An initial early access program will launch in January 2020 and, although it won’t be available to everyone until a time not yet announced, we’re intrigued to learn more about how Sensei can enhance the concept of product recommendations. Amazon Marketplace Extension

With so much competition in the SMB and Mid Market space, it’s becoming increasingly more critical to ensure your products are able to be found and bought on platforms like Amazon Marketplace as well as your own channel. This key extension will allow seamless integration for merchants to sell in both places while only needing to manage their inventory in one platform (Magento).

Adobe Stock Integration

Although it may seem trivial, access to stock assets can be a game changer for smaller merchants who don’t have the disposable marketing budget for photographers, graphic designers etc. Providing easy access to over 130 million assets (images, videos, templates, etc.) right in the Magento interface will likely prove essential for marketers and a big incentive to move to Magento for those not already using it.

Bottom Line

The distinct needs of SMB and Mid Market merchants will not be forgotten in the new Adobe-owned Magento world. In fact, Magento still appear to be taking great care in ensuring these market segments are well catered-for.
